TEAS TRAIL
Cabin Positions
Camp Barnabas provides two very different opportunities for people that want to work with our campers. Read below to best understand the difference in the sibling counselor and the cabin counselor.
Cabin Counselor: The role of a cabin counselor is to oversee their cabin, lead scheduled activities, and all those living in it. This will require leadership and mentoring skills. You will be in charge of both the campers and the CIA’s (Christians in Action) assigned to work one/one with your camper group. To be effective you must be willing to put aside your own personal wants and needs and become a conduit for God’s love. As the spiritual leader of the cabin, a counselor must be ready to share and show God’s love in many different situations. Some of the campers have multiple disabilities and you will need to be available to assist in their personal care.
Siblings Counselor: These select individuals spend their summer working with the siblings
of campers with disabilities. These individuals need to be enthusiastic and creative, ready to work with teen campers. Sibling counselors have the same responsibilities as the cabin counselor to lead their cabin group, mentor campers, and be ready to effectively share God’s love in many different situations. The siblings often have huge personal issues to work through and they need a strong leader and good listener. You are the spiritual leader of the cabin and work with a minimum number of volunteers, mostly just campers and staff.
Support Staff Positions
Camp Barnabas would not exist if not for the individuals who make up our support staff. We like to think of them as the camp suspenders, they keep us all up. Support Staff work in a variety of specific jobs during the day and participate in our evening programs nightly. Individuals who make great support staff usually have some very special gifts and talents that can be displayed in a variety of ways outside of the cabin setting.
Adventure Counselor/ Ropes Team: Our adventure team is responsible for running our outdoor education program and camping program. Members of the Adventure program are also responsible for running the Camp Barnabas Ropes course. As a ropes team member, you will be required to attend extra staff training followed by a certification test. Individuals need to
have solid experience and love for the outdoors and camping.

The leaders train, lead and guide these teens in their role of being servants to our campers, staff and CIA’s. They are responsible for leading a group Bible study as well, must be a very solid Christian, as well as a VERY patient and hard worker and must love working with teens and have experience in that area.

The photographer also takes cabin pictures of each cabin each week and is responsible for printing a copy for each member of the cabin and distributing them to the cabins by closing day.
