Term 2: Challenge Week

Children (ages 7-15) who are physically disabled are invited to attend this week of camp.  This week most campers use wheelchairs for mobility; however, some use hand crutches or walkers for mobility assistance. The campers this week should have developmental vs. chronological age within one year of the norm. Counselor-to-camper ratio is 1:1. Siblings have a 1:2 ratio and are invited to be a part of this term.

This week is all about fun. While the campers have varying needs, they love being with others like themselves. One camper who has been coming to this term for six years shared, “This is the one place where I feel accepted. I wish I could live at Camp Barnabas all the time. I’ve never been any place where there are almost a hundred people in wheelchairs!”

Siblings are invited to attend this week.  Camper siblings have their own special program.  While the siblings will see one another at camp, they will not live in the same cabin.
