Term 8: Sensational Week
Children and young adults (ages 7-25) who are blind/visually impaired and/or are deaf/hard of hearing are invited to attend this week of camp. We consider this our “dinner theater” week. Many of the campers this week are gifted musically – both vocally and as instrumentalists – and they are always happy to share these talents with us during meal time. One camper said, “I may not be able to see camp, but I can feel how great it is here and I love it.” The child with visual challenges and/or hearing challenges will be offered many exciting adventures within the safety level that is appropriate for them. The fun is non-stop and the campers traverse the ropes course and buzz down the zipline. Whatever excitement they choose, the fun does not stop until late each day! Some children have other complicating diagnoses in addition to their visual/hearing challenge and will be grouped in a cabin accordingly.
Siblings are invited to attend this week. Camper siblings have their own special program. While the siblings will see one another at camp, they will not live in the same cabin.
