Summer Staff at Camp Barnabas
Answer the Call
We’re looking for energetic and enthusiastic graduating seniors and older to join the Camp Barnabas Summer Staff. This isn’t just any summer job—this is your chance to create an unforgettable world for our Campers with disabilities and chronic illnesses. Our Summer Staff are passionate about loving and serving others and setting an example of their strong relationship with Christ for Campers and Missionaries.
Our Summer Staff bring the hype and energy to camp, whether wearing crazy costumes at our nightly parties, guiding Campers up the rockwall, cruising down the waterslides, capturing adventures on our media team, serving tasty meals in the kitchen, or leading a cabin through daily devotions.
Paid positions often fulfill internship credit at most universities and last either a half or full summer.
Staff Positions
Cabin Staff
Age: 19+
Our Cabin Staff have the opportunity to love not only the Campers in their cabin, but every Missionary as well. Every day brings its own adventure with various activities and themed parties! A Barnabas Staffer leads by example as the hands and feet of Jesus and is prepared to love and celebrate all Campers as children of God and ensure the Campers’ relationship with their Missionary is both safe and meaningful.
Core Team
Age: 17 – 18 (Must have completed senior year of high school)
The Core Team is made up of individuals who have just graduated from high school. These members get to be part of the many wonderful areas of the ministry and play a vital role at camp, requiring flexibility and a willingness to support where is needed. The Core Team is intertwined in all of camp as they work in Barnabas Outfitters, Barnabas Ink, the Kitchen, Support Staff, and spend a week as a Cabin Staff! Core Team is a special role where you have the opportunity to connect with others entering a similar season of life.
Extreme Team (X-Team)
Age: 19+
If you're always on the move, love the outdoors, and bring the hype wherever you go, this role is for you! The X-Team is behind the thrills at Camp Barnabas, running the zipline, lifeguarding at the waterpark, caring for animals at the Farm, and serving as guides for camping excursions. They’re also the masterminds behind our nightly themed parties: setting up, running the fun, and keeping the energy high all night long. Extreme Team members are required to attend specialized training and certification at the start of summer to prep for the action ahead. They live alongside Campers and Missionaries in the cabins, jumping in to support daily routines and care when not at activities. Because of their certifications and expertise, X-Team members work all summer long.
Media Team
Age: 19+
Members of the Media Team ensure that those special moments at camp, both big and small, are not missed or forgotten. These captured memories allow family to witness the joy and fun taking place all week long. Roles within the Media Team include Media Team Lead, Photographer, and Videographer. Media Team Lead is responsible for managing the Media Team, ensuring that all output is complete and timely, and managing all special projects as needed. Photographers will capture all of the camp activities and parties throughout the weeks along with cabin photos. Videographers will create both a mid-week and end of week video. All members of the Media Team will live in a cabin with Campers and Missionaries, and must be willing to help out with daily functioning of the cabin.
Activities Staff
Age: 19+
The Activities Staff is all about bringing the fun—no special certifications required! Whether it’s wrangling animals at the farm, DJ-ing at karaoke, doodling at live art sessions, cheering others on at the fishing dock, or helping out at the shooting range, these team members bring energy and creativity to every corner of camp. Activity Staff live in cabins with Campers and Missionaries and pitch in with daily cabin life when not leading activities.
Office Assistant
Age: 19+
The role of the office assistant is primarily an administrative job. You will be responsible for handling all phone calls that come into the camp office, sorting and distributing mail, and answering emails. You will also assist the office staff in mail outs and other typical daily office duties. The office assistant will have plenty of opportunities to interact with the Campers during evening activities and meal times.
Resident Assistant
Age: 19+
Many of our Full-Time Staff move their entire families out to camp each summer! In order to fulfill their duties at camp, they need Resident Assistants to care for their children each day. This is a special opportunity to serve the camp, build relationships with Staff and their families, and see camp from a unique perspective. Resident Assistants will live in a cabin with Campers, assist with the daily functioning of the cabin as needed, and be able to attend camp events with the children. Resident Assistants play a vital role in allowing camp to run efficiently, and is a unique opportunity to show the love of Jesus to incredible families as well as their children.
Kitchen Staff
Age: 19+
Camp could not function without our Kitchen Crew! All food preparation, food distribution, and meal times involve the Kitchen Staff. These individuals are responsible for ensuring that enough food is prepared and distributed for every meal and for creating a positive environment within the Dining Hall and the Kitchen. Every day will look different, but the Staff should expect to have hands-on experience with each meal in some capacity! The Kitchen Crew will also get the opportunity to work closely with our Adult Volunteers, Barnstormers, and the Barnstorm Staff.
Special Diets
Several of our Campers come to camp with specific dietary needs (ex. gluten-free, diabetic, lactose intolerant). It is the Special Diet Cook’s job to make sure every Camper’s nutritional needs are met. In this position, you will work alongside our Kitchen Manager, Barnstormer Leaders, and adult volunteers to provide Campers with safe, nutritious meals each day. This is a unique opportunity to serve and provide for the Campers who need additional needs met to attend camp. Special Diets cooks will be living in a cabin with Campers and Missionaries and must be willing to help out with the daily functioning of the cabin as needed.
Barnstorm Staff
Age: 19+
Barnstorm Staff oversee all roles and responsibilities of the Barnstorm Program. These individuals are spiritual leaders for Barnstormers while ensuring a clean camp environment. Barnstorm Staff get to pour into and love on the Barnstormers, volunteers ages 13-14, who serve camp in a unique way! The Barnstormers are getting to have a blast serving while learning more about Christ in the process!
Store Staff
Age: 19+
The Store Staff helps bring life and warmth to all three Barnabas store locations: Barnabas Outfitters, The Barnabean coffee shop, and The Harbor concessions. From t-shirts to iced lattes to poolside snacks, you’ll help ensure exceptional retail experiences for Campers, Missionaries, Staff, families, and visitors. The Store Staff manages inventory, helps with store cards, operations, and has a high attention to detail. The Store Staff works with the Core Team at each store location to keep them well-stocked, organized, clean, and running efficiently. You’ll build a welcoming environment where every guest feels cared for and enjoys great products, service, and staff.
Med Team Interns
Age: 19+
Med Team Interns are an essential part of the day-to-day functions of Camp Barnabas during the summer. The Med Team Intern will work closely with the Med Team and the Health Services Director each day. Med Team Interns will gain useful experience while leading as a Christ-like example in and out of the Well House. It is a requirement that Med Interns already have healthcare experience, or aspire to work in healthcare.
Grounds Crew
Age: 19+
This team helps ensure the aesthetic of camp is kept neat and presentable throughout the summer. This team works to ensure that camp is running nice and neat while also maintaining the upkeep of all mowers and weed eaters. When not actively working to improve the look of the camp's grounds, members of this team are to be support in their cabins.

2. Schedule An Interview
Once you finish your Staff application, our team will reach out to you to set up an interview.
Note: One reference must be completed before an interview is scheduled and two references before a job offer can be sent. Examples of preferred references would be youth pastors, teachers, and supervisors at work or in volunteer settings. To check the status of your references, please click HERE and then log into your account. From there, you will be able to click “manage references” to check the status and resend your reference requests.
3. Accept The Position
We can’t wait to have you serve on Staff with us! If you are offered a position, please accept the position and sign your contract within 2 weeks of the initial offer. If you have not accepted within 2 weeks, your position may be rescinded and offered to another applicant.
